We’re blitzing the old self publication lately, what with selling DKs voice for a pound (see advert below) and now plugging this new, upcoming, swanky mixtape. If you had a listen to the last one then thank you very much – this next mixtape will be cooler than Tom Cruise, more relaxed than than a vicar around kids, and smoother than my grandmas oak veneered coffin. Sometimes, as an unsuccessful DJ, you’re forced to perform a pressure mix. A pressure mix is where you look up, realise you’ve got 10 seconds left on the clock to get a record on – and the pressure comes from;

1. Playing the right song to follow on;
2. Keeping the mood the same;
3. And picking a song that, well, isn’t shit.

As unsuccessful as I am, the clock counted down, 10 seconds left as I had mistakenly been surfing Twitter during the current song instead of cuing up a new song – arrrrgh, what should I play?

Yeah. I killed it.

I always rant.

Maybe that’s not such a good thing, but this morning I had to let off some steam. I mean, what do you really hate? Go on, have a rant yourself, you might feel a little bit better. It’s the small things in life that usually get me down though; have a listen here. Brace yourself for disappointment though, it’s not my best work, nor is it my finest rant.

Klaus in the BIG APPLE | DJ

My agent called me today and told me I had a DJ gig in the Big Apple… I mean, this could be the making of me, it’s not every day I get to travel so far and DJ at somewhere so prestigious – I’m pretty damn happy right now.

So yeah, I’ll see you guys at Bramley, near Leeds next week!

Chi Bar, Bradford | Dexter Klaus

I’ve been playing in Bradford for a while now, at Chino Thai. I was based downstairs, and I played to the crowd – and what a tough crowd they were. It’s Bradford after all, so you can expect chavs wanting baseline and “errrrrr, dubstep mate….”

But the other day, something really cool happened. I left my Mac charger at home, like an idiot. That wasn’t cool. What was cool, was the fact that I had to improvise. I ran to the car, and scooped up what I had; my trusty funky house, soul, nu jazz and lounge CDs. I’m a bit of a chilled groovy guy in my spare time*

*although others may disagree.

Anyway, using the CD players, and a handful of CDs, I mixed up a treat – and the customers loved it too. From now on, at Chino Thai, you can hear me playing Bar Grooves and plenty of funk.

Funking great.
